Description
The Beijing Bell and Drum Towers, located at the northern end of Beijing's central axis, were the timekeeping center during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The Drum Tower originally housed 25 timekeeping drums, while the Bell Tower is home to the massive 63-ton Yongle Bell, known as the 'King of Ancient Bells' in China. The 'Evening Drum and Morning Bell' was the traditional method of timekeeping in ancient Beijing. The towers are architectural masterpieces of ancient Chinese city timekeeping structures, renowned for their prominent location, long history, and unique architectural layout. Covering an area of 12,597 square meters, the towers are a national key cultural relic protection unit. Visitors can enjoy immersive film screenings and traditional drum performances, offering a glimpse into the rich history and culture of ancient Beijing.
