Introduction

Lama Temple, also known as the Yonghe Lamasery or Yonghe Palace, is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist temple located in Beijing, China. Originally built in the late 17th century as an official residence for a Qing dynasty prince, it was converted into a lamasery in 1744. The temple is famous for its impressive architecture, which combines Han and Tibetan styles, and its collection of Buddhist art and historical artifacts. Among its most notable features is the Hall of the Wheel of Law and the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses. It also houses a large statue of the Maitreya Buddha made from a single piece of sandalwood. Today, Lama Temple is not only a place of worship but also a popular tourist attraction that offers insights into Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese religious culture.
